As someone who never planned to go to grad school, I'm making the switch. Before I chose to major in public relations, I wanted to study biology because I wanted to become a doctor. A doctor is great, but this career requires four years of undergrad, four years of medical school, and two or three years of residency. Well, I decided that more than four years of schooling was not for me on top of many other reasons, which is why I switched to public relations. "Grad school is not for everyone" was the one saying that I referred to when people would ask me if I would consider grad school. But now, I am thinking of going to grad school, specifically for a Master's degree in leadership and management. So, what are my reasons? Well, let me tell you my three reasons why I'm planning to go to grad school.

The first reason is, grad school will allow me to study more in-depth in one specific field. Most undergrad studies are broad, especially at Taylor University because of the liberal arts education. Each major may be different, but in my major of public relations, there are many routes that students could go with public relations. Students can choose to go into fields such as agency, government, nonprofit, or profit organizations. I am particularly interested in the agency field of public relations. And I'm particularly interested in leadership and management roles, so going to grad school for that particular master's program would allow me to have the knowledge and experience in that specific role.

Third and lastly, I believe that obtaining a graduate-level education will serve me in the long run. According to Franklin University, "one must view graduate school as an investment and not a cost." But that doesn't mean it is not beneficial to consider the cost of a grad school. I'm considering many options regarding grad school such as scholarships, federal student aids, and grad schools that are offering assistantships so that I can get the best option when it comes to obtaining my master's degree with the cost in mind. All in all, the saying "grad school is not for everyone" remains true for many people still, but I want you to consider some of my reasons. Maybe you'll convert as I did. So, I challenge you to think about grad school and determine if it may or may not be for you!
These are great insights on why one should consider Grad school! Thank you so much for sharing, Nay!!
